Our FREE 10-week Building Maintenance and Construction Program (BMC) gives you the hands-on training and certifications you need to start or re-enter a career in the construction industry. 

This innovative program is offered in partnership with the Sault Community Career Centre, Sault Ste. Marie Construction Association, and the District of Sault Ste. Marie Social Services Administration Board.

Free Program Supports

We’ll set you up for success with:

  • A basic toolkit
  • CSA-approved work boots
  • Safety gear: hard hat, gloves, vest, safety glasses
  • All course materials
  • Certificates and training fees are fully covered

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the Building Maintenance and Construction Program, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be legally entitled to work in Ontario
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or an individual with a 900-series Social Insurance Number (SIN) who is awaiting their official documents for permanent residency
  • Be available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., for training
  • Be able to travel to job sites in Sault Ste. Marie

You can also be receiving support from Ontario Works (OW) or the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP).

What Happens After Training?

After you complete the 10-week training program: 

  • We’ll help you connect with local employers who are looking to hire for entry-level roles
  • You’ll be ready to hit the ground running with real experience, certifications, and confidence
