Temporary Technical Support Specialist

LOCATION: Information Technology Department, 100 Ontario Ave, Sault Ste. Marie, ON

EFFECTIVE DATE: Immediately

END DATE: Up to 6 month contract position, with the possibility of extension

ANNUALIZED SALARY: $64,455 – $70,507

Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the Technical Support Specialist will deliver frontline end-user support related to most services and systems supported by the Information Technology Department through email, telephone, remote technologies, or in-person support.

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Provide level I hardware, software, and application support to all schools and departments
  • Utilize the helpdesk system, track service requests, document resolutions, and escalate as required
  • Configure, test, troubleshoot, install, repair, maintain, and upgrade various pieces of IT equipment
  • Create, maintain, customize, and push workstation images
  • Liaise with vendors and other third parties for technical and warranty support
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two year college diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Three years of previous IT helpdesk experience
  • Ability to travel to various locations within the board’s jurisdiction
  • In-depth knowledge of a broad range of information technologies including, but not limited to: software applications, computer networks, operating systems, and the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, organizational, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • An eagerness to learn as new questions and situations arise; stay up-to-date with current news, system information, problems, changes and updates relevant to the end-user community
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
