MAIN FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Entity Controller, the Junior Accountant participates in all accounting and financial functions at the national level (Canada). The selected candidate will assist the controller on all of the day-to-day activities of the accounting department: reporting, internal controls, budgeting and operational analysis.

Tasks associated with this position also include, but may not be limited to:

  • Participate in day-to-day financial functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, tax filing, control of inventory and maintaining an accurate general ledger of accounts
  • Participate in accurate inventory production costs and monthly analysis of variances
  • Develop and update reports of profitability and performance of the entity and the business units
  • Participate in the budget process (cost, margin, SG&A, etc.)
  • Help to review and continuously improve processes
  • Prepare and submit tax reports to the various fiscal authorities
  • Participate in the analysis (Actual vs. budget and Actual vs. Last year), prepare and participate in the submission of the month end results (balance sheet, P&L, cash-flow, gross margin analysis, etc.)
  • Maintain the system on the General Ledger creation, product codes, standard cost recipes and other mapping in order to have the right information on financial statements
  • Participate in the year end process: Physical inventory counts, Audit file and governance package
  • Assist with ad-hoc requests, special projects and other responsibilities as required

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • 0-3 years accounting experience
  • University degree in finance, accounting, or business
  • Experience with cost accounting, standard costs and production variance analysis
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets
  • Analytical skills to develop financial models and projections
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel (advanced skills with pivot tables & linking) and other Microsoft Office products
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken
  • Experience with inter-company and inter-division transactions is an asset
  • Experience with multi-currency transactions is an asset
  • Knowledge of IBM Cognos BI is an asset
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset
