Make a difference by becoming a Nurse in Corrections

Nurses working in our correctional facilities are responsible for the assessment and evaluation of the physical and mental health of offenders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement treatment care plans
  • Provide emergency care services
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies and health care regulations

Qualifications:

  • Be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and possess a BCLS level certificate in CPR
  • Possess knowledge of nursing theories and legislation, including the Regulated Health Professionals Act, Mental Health Act, and Health Care Consent Act
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal, crisis intervention, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to work as a member of an inter-professional team to provide the best quality health care programs and services for diverse offenders
