Swiss Chalet Job Fair!

Swiss Chalet is hiring and hosting a job fair on Thursday, May 19, from 10 am to 4 pm at its location on 332 Great Northern Road, in partnership with the Sault Community Career Centre.

At Swiss Chalet, we’ve put people first since our doors opened in 1954.  Our atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, and we work as a team to help each other succeed.  We’re currently looking for 45-60 motivated team players who are guest-focused and passionate about food and hospitality to fill the following full-time and part-time positions:

Servers:

Responsibilities:

    • Be a “know-it-all” about our regular and promotional food/beverage menu. Communicate and recommend
    • Provide a welcoming smile and genuine hospitality
    • Get to know our guests and enhance their personal experience while flawlessly executing our steps of service
    • Provide responsible alcohol service to all guests
    • Adhere to all safe food safety and handling procedures
    • Abide by food safety regulations and best practices

Is This You?

    • Previous experience as a server is an asset
    • Provincial Responsible Alcohol Service certification is required
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Energetic and self-confident with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
    • Able to work a flexible schedule (i.e., days, nights, weekends)
    • Team Player – help contribute to a positive guest experience however necessary

Line Cooks:

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Complete line checks to ensure that enough product is prepared and kept ready for service
    • Ensure the quality of food is outstanding each and every time
    • Plate food to specifications to create a great dining experience
    • Deliver a perfect guest experience by ensuring all standards are being executed and exceeded based on Swiss Chalet’s established specifications
    • Be a leader in demonstrating behaviours consistent with Recipe’s Principles
    • Keep the work area, utensils and production equipment clean and sanitized
    • Perform all opening, closing and cleaning tasks as instructed
    • Adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures outlined in the Health and Safety Program
    • Follow safe food handling procedures at all times

Qualifications:

    • Previous experience as a Line Cook is an asset
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Energetic and self-confident with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
    • Follow standards and procedures
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
    • Reliable and punctual
    • Able to work a flexible schedule (i.e., days, nights, weekends)
    • Willing to help with prep and dishes as needed
    • Food Safety certified or obtain within 3 months

Prep Cooks:

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Make food to specifications to create a positive dining experience
    • Complete prep lists to ensure enough product is prepared and available for service
    • Keep work area, utensils and production equipment in a clean, sanitized state
    • Control waste and spoilage
    • Follow safe food handling procedures at all times
    • Restock any low items during the shift
    • Complete cleaning schedules as assigned
    • Assist all team members whenever needed
    • Adhere to all Food Safety policies and procedures
    • Completion of Food Safety logs

    • Willing to work on the line, cooking as needed

Hosts/Hostesses:

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

    • Ensure quality is at the highest standards of Swiss Chalet
    • Ambassador of the perfect guest experience. Driving knowledge around hospitality and salesmanship
    • Ensure compliance with all standards and procedures relating to provincial workplace safety standards
    • The successful candidate is expected to be a leader, demonstrating behaviours that align with our culture of improvement, growth and executing with excellence

Qualifications:

    • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
    • Dynamic personality, energetic and self-confident
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to multi-task and maintain high energy in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule (i.e., days, nights, weekends)
    • Team Player – help contribute to a positive guest experience however necessary

Take Out Associates:

Responsibilities:

    • Deliver a perfect guest experience by ensuring all standards are being executed based on Swiss Chalet’s established specifications
    • Ensure all delivery orders leave the restaurant in a timely manner, allowing for delivery to our guests within 50 minutes
    • Be a “know-it-all” about our regular and promotional food/beverage menu. Communicate and recommend
    • Be thoroughly familiar with the causes of food contamination and the methods of prevention and follow all food safety standards and systems
    • Be a team player; support other Associates when you see that they need help
    • Be a leader in demonstrating behaviours consistent with Recipe’s Principles

Qualifications:

    • Food service/hospitality experience
    • Must have a love for people and strive for service excellence
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
    • Driven and focused
    • Inspirational/motivational
    • Able to work a flexible schedule (i.e., days, nights, weekends)

Dishwashers:

Responsibilities:

    • Keep the dishwashing area organized, tidy and clean
    • Set up the dishwashing area and operate the dishwashing machine
    • Have clean dishes available and put away to serve our food
    • Set up bus pans for soaking and sinks for manual washing
    • Complete cleaning jobs outlined by management teams
    • Keep garbage containers emptied and cleaned
    • Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures
    • Assist all team members whenever needed

    • Responsible and reliable
    • Ability to multi-task and maintain high energy in a fast-paced environment
    • Takes pride in doing a job well done
    • Follows standards and procedures
    • Willing to help and support the team
    • Reliable and punctual
    • Able to work a flexible schedule (i.e., days, nights, weekends)
