Job Title: Administrative Assistant, Part-Time

Job Summary:

The Art Gallery of Algoma (AGA) is looking for the Administrative Assistant funded by Canada Summer Jobs, Service Canada. The Administrative Assistant position provides opportunity for youth to gain experience in organizing office files, general organizational skills, in customer service in person, over the phone and by email, people skills, time management and co-operative working skills as well as to learn about the operation of the art gallery including gallery shop. Training, support, and supervision will be provided by the AGA staff. Administrative Assistant will work closely with the AGA staff as well as the contract bookkeeper. Part of the job will be maintaining cleanliness in the workspace following health and safety guidelines outlined by the Algoma Public Health in response to the pandemic.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience and knowledge about office work such as ordering supplies, running point of sale system with sales and reports for accounting, have customer service experience, working with public, suppliers, and consignment artists. Attention to detail is mandatory. Computer skills should include proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), Zoom platform, web based social media tools (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube). Candidate should be fluent in English (written and spoken). The Registrar will be required to complete a current criminal record check and vulnerable sector police screening.

Application Criteria
According to the Federal funding eligibility criteria, candidates:
• Will be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
• Are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment – 280 hours each
candidate to be completed working minimum 12 hours per week up to 23 weeks.

Start date for this position is ASAP. Total number of hours worked under this grant is 280 hours
during 23 weeks. This is a part-time position. Hourly rate is $14.25.
