Position: Maintenance & Security Supervisor

Starting Range: $29.73 – $32.78 (Pending Education & Experience)

Location: Ojibway Park

Report to: Business Entities Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Maintenance and Security Supervisor is responsible for the management of daily maintenance and security operations of Ojibway Park ensuring a healthy and safe environment for clients and community.
The Maintenance and Security Supervisor functions within legislative requirements, regulations, policies and procedures and the Mission and Vision of the Garden River First Nation and contributes to the accomplishment of the strategic priorities.

DUTIES

  • Supervising and coordinating the maintenance and repair of park facilities including playgrounds, trails, rental areas, public spaces, and restrooms
  • Ensuring the safety and cleanliness of parks and recreational facilities
  • Collaborate with Manager on emergency planning and response, to ensure the safety of park visitors and staff
  • Coordinating and overseeing park beautification projects such as landscaping and tree planting
  • Monitoring and enforcing park rules, security systems and regulations for the safety of visitors
  • Creating and managing work schedules for park maintenance and security staff
  • Inspecting Park facilities and equipment regularly to assess their condition and plan repairs or replacements
  • Coordinating with other departments or agencies for special events, emergency responses, and other park-related activities
  • Overseeing contractors and consultants’ agreements
  • Conducting patrols as required
  • Conducting and reporting on investigations and incidents as required
  • Managing the park budget and allocating resources effectively
  • Addressing complaints, concerns, or suggestions from park visitors
  • Developing and implementing park operational policies and procedures
  • Submitting reports and proposals to management as required
  • Management of inventory and equipment
  • Assisting in maintenance, repairs and security when applicable
  • Performing other related duties as may be required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two-year technical diploma in a related field
  • Two years of experience at a supervisory level in custodial, landscaping or similar field
  • First Aid and CPR
  • Experience with hand and power tools and good working knowledge in the operation, maintenance and safety of small equipment.
  • Required PPE to be used
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort level in dealing with difficult customer interactions and/or complaints
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and similar software
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge and experience of First Nation culture, values, and traditions
  • Must undergo a criminal records check prior to employment. (At Applicant Expense)
