The Sault Community Career Centre’s Apprenticeship Support Program, in partnership with the Sault Ste. Marie Construction Association, is excited to offer free Mentorship Matters™ training to journeypersons.
This free workshop is offered every second Tuesday of each month, from 12 pm – 4 pm, at the Sault Ste. Marie Construction Association, 196 Industrial Park Crescent. Sign up today for the session that works best for your schedule. Lunch will be provided.
Mentorship Matters™ is an industry-aligned and endorsed training program that provides journeypersons with the leadership skills, strategies and essential tools to mentor and effectively transfer their knowledge and skills to new workers on the jobsite.
- Understand the responsibilities of a mentor and create a safe environment for new workers to practice their skills
- Learn the six-step approach to teaching skills that includes techniques for demonstrating, evaluating and providing feedback, including intergenerational communication strategies
- Improve skills transference and productivity of apprentices and new workers
Since its inception in 2012, thousands of apprentices and journeypersons across North America have been trained with proven results in increased skills acquisition, productivity and safety, intergenerational communication and enhanced job satisfaction and retention.
